When you lead a business day-to-day, it’s difficult to stay informed about everything that could impact your business from the outside.

However, it’s important to find a way to keep across complex plans and policies, as well as the economic and competitive environments your business operates in. And it’s your responsibility as a business owner or leader to have a say in the plans and policies that could positively or negatively impact your ability to operate a successful enterprise.

This month, Sydney Hills Business Chamber is hosting the most important business community event on the calendar – the Annual Chairman’s Lunch. The event brings together hundreds of businesses and decision makers whose plans and roles directly determine the future of our community.

This article aims to help businesses prepare for the event and increase your understanding of the key plans and policies your business might be impacted by. We’ve also added  a copy of these to the Member Resources page.

Why should you care about your region’s plans?

Understanding the status and plans for the Northwest region of Sydney is key to effectively preparing business plans for the next quarter and beyond.

The Annual Chairman’s Lunch aims to demonstrate to our state and local government decision makers that businesses in our region are serious about ensuring all planning processes include us. We hope the event generates outcomes to ensure the Hills and North West Sydney is a place our families will continue to enjoy living, working, and playing in – well into the future.

What plans do you need to know about?

There are no simple, silver bullet solutions that will address the many competing needs and desires of people living and working in our region. Therefore, it’s important to recognise that complex problems require multi-faceted and complex solutions and multiple levers to achieve outcomes that are best fit for individual and community needs.

Progress is coming, whether you want it to or not. So it’s our collective responsibility to be aware of, and influence, that progress to achieve the best outcomes.

It’s also essential to work proactively and positively with decisions-makers to help them understand the realities of potential solutions vs theoretical outcomes.
