About the SHBC and THSC Alliance Partnership:
The Hills Shire Council (THSC) and the Sydney Hills Business Chamber (SHBC) enjoy a long-standing relationship working in Alliance to increase the range of support activities and opportunities for growth for businesses in the Hills Shire.
Both organisations deliver activities and projects that aim to increase local jobs for residents and attract the right types of investment, businesses and industries to our region, to the overall benefit of the local economy and community wellbeing of Hills residents and businesses.
Strategic alignment
THSC prioritise their activities under the theme Building a Vibrant Community and a Prosperous Economy. Our Alliance Head Agreement supports the following strategies.
Promote the awareness of the region’s business opportunities and provide information and support to attract new investment and jobs.
Support existing businesses and business networks to increase business capacity and capabilities to grow jobs.

The SHBC serves our members and the entire Hills business community through our 3 core pillars: Influence, Access, and Community.
Influence – having the right seats at the right tables to influence decisions that impact local businesses.
Access – facilitating access for all businesses to support, information, education to enable them to thrive.
Community – providing opportunities for businesses and their leaders to connect, collaborate, and celebrate success.
The Alliance Partnership relationship was renewed in early 2023 for another 3 years and is established in the spirit of collaboration and cooperation, for the mutual benefit of both organisations and the business community.
Both organisations will work together to develop and promote programs that align with the THSC and SHBC’s strategic objectives.

Corporate Business Round Tables 2023
The SHBC will run, in collaboration with THSC, three corporate business roundtable lunch events. The focus of the roundtables is to support investment attraction and strategic planning processes. The Key theme for the 2023 roundtables are
- Tourism and place making.
- Labour availability and capability
- Infrastructure, and places to do business.
New Business Connector Events
This event is suitable for business owners who are starting a new local business or have launched a business in the last 12 months, as well as established businesses who are new to The Hills District.
SHBC will run the New Business Connector events in collaboration with THSC team.
Jobs Forum and Job Pathways Program
A key issue for all businesses in the Hills is the challenging jobs and employment market.
SHBC in collaboration with THSC, and other Chambers across Northwest Sydney will host a Jobs Forum bringing together all the stakeholders who need to be involved in developing a practical and cohesive approach to improving the current and future job skills and employment pathways. The Jobs Forum will be held in conjunction with the WExpo event on October 11th 2023, the Job’s Forum activity will be attended by stakeholders (by invitation) and is also open to the general public / businesses who are attending the WExpo event.
MyCommunity Program
To improve the process of delivering value driven outcomes for businesses, for SHBC engagement connection activities & programs are arranged under a MyCommunity umbrella program.
MyCommunity program (aligned to our ‘Community’ & ‘Influence’ strategic pillars) allows the Chamber to have a cohesive and yet tailored approach to the needs of different businesses of all sizes and types and enables us to set the overall strategy and direction of the MyCommunity Program and its group of sub programs.
Industry Leaders Lunches
SHBC’s Industry Leaders Lunch Series for 2023 will include 5 events spilt across the following groups: Sales & Marketing, Professional Services, Health and Medical, CEO Building & Construction, Information Technology. Each lunch program covers key themes relevant to the economic climate and the challenges impacting, or opportunities for businesses in the industry sector. Business Owners, and senior executives of the sectors, small medium to large businesses are invited to the lunches to network and share insights.
A panel of private and public sector influencers and decision makers share important information and Q&A answers with attendees. The Business Leaders Lunches for 2023 are aimed at showcasing the Hills as an economic center of excellence, to encourage business opportunities, investment, and job growth in the Hills.
